Parenthesis for Karimoku
The arched signature armrest.
Where fabric ages faster, the Uzukuri wood frame lasts for generations.

Uzukuri woodwork in detail.
The Parenthesis sofa is designed to be used for a long time; a piece of furniture that can be passed from parent to child, from old home to new, with values that transcend generations and nationalities – reducing environmental impact to realise its mission of ‘‘creating pleased lives with wood.’’
The cushions of the sofa can be replaced with age, while the wooden frame can be easily disassembled to enter small dwellings. The three-dimensional finish of the Uzukuri process utilises the grain of the wood, providing a pleasant visual and tactile experience for the user. The name ‘‘Parenthesis’’ means ‘‘round brackets’’ because of the piece’s discreet bowed arms.
