Mantelpiece Loft
The Mantelpiece Loft was purchased by a couple with two children, who were both keen to have separate bedrooms in their new home – but this proved impossible with the existing floorplan. Challenged with reconfiguring the loft's layout, we noticed that the dormant space under the loft's soaring roof could be utilized.
Additionally, instead of trying to blend in with the loft’s existing architecture, we wanted to give all the extra layers their own expression, adding depth to the home in a simple way. As a result, each unit has its own colour, and everything is made from life-sized building blocks. The updated kitchen was then dressed in the same green as the new loft on top of it, so it appears now as one seamless block.
