Today, outdoor environments are more important than anyone could ever have imagined. City parks see people from different cultures and backgrounds meeting to socialise and get together in ways previously done indoors.
Plinth is a visually striking series of tables and benches built on an enormously flexible modular system consisting of a few key elements that could easily be deployed in different combinations and at different scales. The concept for Plinth is based on research that examines in detail the social role of a picnic table across cultures as well as behaviour shifting in our society. Its function is up to the user to define, adapting it to different needs and contexts. Plinth is designed to respond to changing norms and social behaviours, not to dictate them.
